What’s FreeRider?
At first the name was just a pun; a mash-up of game theory and Vanguard to make a handle on Twitter. Now, I’ve decided to lean into this name and expand its scope into a full project. After spending a decade playing Vanguard as a teen, I’m in a place where I can give back.
The goal of FreeRider is to collect and provide written resources for Cardfight!! Vanguard. My aim is to build a body of research on the game that players can use to learn from, particularly new players. This will include deck studies, gameplay theory, and tools to assist deckbuilding. Over time, the resources compiled here should give a solid foundation for anyone who wants to learn this game and play it well. A majority of the knowledge about the game is word-of-mouth, and the purpose of FreeRider is to document that knowledge and put it in one place.
Of course, you will not escape from my personal musings too 💖. Hopefully, by attempting to define “playing well” for myself, I can create something that others will find insightful too. You can free ride as much as you like.
